John Newton – Chief Executive Officer GRAVITY MEDIA and Chief Executive Officer GEARHOUSE BROADCAST AUSTRALIA
John Newton is the founder of Gravity Media Group Ltd which was formed in 2000 as the MBO vehicle for Gearhouse Broadcast around the world. John, with over twenty-five years in the industry, is group Chief Executive Officer with particular focus on worldwide performance, strategy, business development and high value procurement.
Kevin Moorhouse – Chief Operating Officer and Managing Director GEARHOUSE BROADCAST UNITED KINGDOM
Kevin Moorhouse has worked in the broadcast industry for twenty five years. From Senior Technician for South Africa Broadcasting Corporation to Technical Manager responsible for Technical Operations of Facilities and Manpower for Outside Broadcast, Studio, News and Flyaway facilities. 1997 saw Kevin leave his native South Africa with a move to the UK as Engineering Manager for Gearhouse Broadcast. Subsequently Kevin has taken responsibility for group wide technical operations and he is currently focused on ensuring first class delivery of all large scale projects alongside his role as Managing Director of the UK business which includes teams handling sales, rental, system integration and flyaway projects globally.
Eamonn Dowdall – Business Development Director and Managing Director GEARHOUSE BROADCAST QATAR
With over twenty years experience in the Broadcast industry Eamonn Dowdall worked for Sony Broadcast & Professional Division for fourteen years progressing through various market segments with the UK Sales Division ending in the role General Manager. In 2000 he joined Gearhouse Broadcast to become Commercial Director and within 2 years was promoted to the role of UK Managing Director. In this period the UK business has trebled in turnover with expansion of its Projects, Rental and Sales Divisions. Eamonn’s responsibility is business development across all of the group’s activities with particular emphasis on sales and systems integration particularly in emerging markets.
Elliot Kaye – Chief Financial Officer
With an Economics and Econometrics degree from the University of Manchester, Elliot Kaye qualified as a Chartered Accountant (ACA) in 1995 with HW Fisher & Co, a top 20 accounting firm in London and he has extensive experience of audit and corporate finance, with Price Waterhouse and Grant Thornton. Elliot joined Gearhouse Broadcast as Group Financial Controller in 2001, became UK Finance Director in 2005, UK Finance & Operations Director in 2007 and on 1 January 2008 became Chief Financial Officer with responsibility for the finance function of the whole Group.
Nick Newton – Commercial Director
A former senior corporate banker, Nick joined Gravity Media Group in September 2014 after a 34 year career with Barclays and Clydesdale Bank. He spent many years as a Corporate Relationship Director and also undertook a number of specialist roles covering areas such as trade finance, foreign exchange, corporate finance, restructuring and turnaround. He is an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers. In his current role, Nick provides support to the group on general banking, corporate finance and commercial matters.
Pete Newton – Technical Manager
Pete joined Gearhouse Broadcast in the UK in October 1998 as a trainee engineer and after completing his HNC in Electronic Engineering in 2001, he worked on a number of high profile projects globally. He has been a senior engineer in charge of some of the group’s largest projects and has a wealth of technical experience gained over many years in the field. Pete was most recently Head of Projects Engineering in the UK before being appointed Technical Manager for Gravity Media Group in January 2016. In his current role, Pete supports group senior management in assessing the technical requirements of the worldwide business and has a particular focus on industry developments, procurement and the adoption of new technologies and workflows.
Michelle Deans – Head of Tax
Michelle Deans joined Gravity Media Group in October 2013 as the Group’s Tax Manager, with responsibility for the tax affairs of the Group. She previously worked with large corporates, most recently Charter International plc and has over 18 years of experience of advising on multinational taxation issues both within the Big 4 and industry. Michelle is a Chartered Accountant and a Chartered Tax Advisor.
Nicholas Smith – Marketing Director
With over 10 years’ experience in local and international sports and broadcast marketing, Nicholas Smith’s global exposure has seen him working with some of the industries most renowned affiliates, broadcasters, leagues and manufacturers across the world. A brand and engagement specialist at heart, he strives to diligently develop, launch and curate multichannel brand portfolios and propositions. Nicholas is well versed in b2b and b2c acquisition, retention and engagement marketing with a strong emphasis on digital asset development and content creation, bringing brands and their products to market whilst optimising brand awareness and market share. At Gravity Media Nicholas heads up the efforts to further strengthen the business brands and global presence with strategic partnerships and industry relevant content creation across all channels.
Nikki Petken – Group Legal Counsel
Nikki joined Gravity Media Group in January 2017 as Group Legal Counsel. Previously she has worked in private practice, with the BBC and most recently in the private mental health sector.
