Project: High Definition Outside Broadcast Trucks
Gearhouse Broadcast Pty Limited, a leading provider of live outside broadcast services in Australia commissioned two new state-of-the-art high definition outside broadcast units for their Australian division based in Sydney and Melbourne.
The new HD5 and HD6 units were designed by Gearhouse Broadcast’s team of Senior Broadcast Engineers and built and integrated at Gearhouse Broadcast UK head office in Hertfordshire. The systems integration took fourteen weeks, per unit, to complete and included the latest in broadcast technology cameras, vision mixers, monitors, routers and glue products.
HD5 and HD6 are both 13.6m long and offers an incredibly flexible production space that features the latest HD and 3G technology. The multi-purpose facilities consists of expandable production areas with comprehensive vision, engineering, VTR and audio areas. In total, the trucks can easily accommodate 32 dedicated staff in climate controlled ergonomic luxury, which were specially developed to cope with the extremities of the Australian climate. They are capable of facilitating up to 24 x HD multi-format cameras plus radio cameras and 6 x POV cameras. They have a recording capability which utilises 7 x EVS and 4 x HD CAM recorders.
The units are fully equipped with 64 fader MC56 Lawo sound desk, surround sound and Dolby audio, Sony 7000 Vision Switcher with 80 Inputs 36 Outputs and integral DME’s, N-Vision 8576 Hybrid (Video and embedded audio) router configured for 333 inputs and 540 outputs.
Additional features include 18 production wall monitors with quad splits to give up to 80 pictures, front and rear production desks for up to 10 production staff, front and rear EVS desks for up to 9 operators and extensive networking facilities.
